CPC servicemen and women on memorial day
May 10, 2005
CPC Families and Friends,
Over the past 8 months, the Military Ministry has sent boxes to Aaron Porter, Paul Lipham, Joel Lee, and Ben Kirby. Because of your generosity, we have not only been able to send goodies to our own, but also to their platoons and comrades. Some of our guys have expressed the witness that this has been to others in their platoons. God's Word has accompanied each box that we have sent.
Seven boxes of stuffed animals/toys were also mailed to Afghani children, where they were given out to children at an orphanage and at a school. I wish I could have been there to see the delight of the children as they received their toy!
This week, boxes have been sent to Aaron Porter, Joel Lee, and Bob Sandy. Please pray for these guys as they serve our country. Recent updates on some of our fellows are up on the hall bulletin board. February, March, and April have been times of transition for our guys. Aaron Porter left Camp LeJeune for the Mediterranean, Joel Lee is now in Norfolk, VA training on the USS George Washington, Paul Lipham has returned from Iraq as well as Ben Kirby from Afghanistan. We are thankful for God's protection!
In appreciation of the boxes we sent to Ben's platoon, they have given the church a U.S. flag that was flown over the U.S. Army compound in Kabul on January 14, 2005.
Ben stated in his letter:
"Thank you for sending bags of food and personal hygiene items for the people in my platoon. The things you put in there were really useful. We are doing well and should be leaving Afghanistan at the end of April. I enjoyed seeing some of you while I was home on leave."
Thanks,
Ben Kirby
The next projects/plans from the Military Ministry will be forthcoming soon!
Thank you for all of your prayers, help and support.
In Christ's love,
Martha and Audrey
